Motherhood

There is a contest going on at 5 Minutes for Mom, and I thought why not give it a try! So, here's my entry ...

Motherhood is ....

Knowing from the first moment you lay eyes on her that nothing else in your life will ever be as important. It is cherishing the shape of her eyes, the curve of her nose, her laughs, her giggles, her cries, her sighs, the way she smells after a bath, the way she smells after playing outside all afternoon. It is watching her discover a leaf, feel the wind blow on her face, feel the rain as it falls on her, and squish play-doh in her hands. It is wanting to give her the world but also wanting to teach her it doesn't revolve around her. It is dreaming of the person she will be when she is older but never wanting her to grow up. It is wanting her to embrace life and all it can be but never wanting to let her out of your arms. It is wanting God's guiding hand on her every minute of her life and wanting her to be blessed beyond measure. It is overflowing, never-ending, and undefinable love.

Yes! This sums up motherhood perfectly. I definitely had to get a tissue after reading it. You are such a good writer... absolutely beautiful, Heather.

So beautiful! You've always been such a talented writer! I remember you winning writing "competitions" in Ms. Pierce's class in high school! Good luck with the contest! You deserve to win!
